This website gives you dua’as to recite based on how you’re feeling

Whether you’re feeling happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time or you’re just experiencing a single emotion at once — there’s a dua’a for it, and now there’s a website that picks the perfect one for you.

Sujood.Co allows users to select an emotion and then provides them with dua’as that correlate with how they’re feeling.

“I really needed a way to pour my heart out to Allah,” says Nabeel Khan, the founder and maker of Sujood.Co. “I needed to get as close as I could to Him.”

The 21-year-old from Fremont, Calif. got the idea for the dua’a website when he came across the following hadith:

أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ

“The closest that a servant is to his Lord is when he is in prostration.” (Muslim)

Khan found that he could get closer to Allah through sujood (prostration), but that he still faced one problem — he didn’t know what to say.

“I started to notice that in my sujood, repeating the same dua’a across prayers was not working,” Khan says. “Our emotions aren’t static, they fluctuate.”

“Our emotions aren’t static, they fluctuate”

Khan says each dua’a resource he came across only focussed on external actions like going to the bathroom or wearing new clothes, but he wanted a platform that included dua’as relating to the essence of humanity — emotions.

And so he did just that, he created a dua’a website featuring 41 different emotions.

Non-Arabic speaking Muslims will find the website most useful, Khan says, since the dua’as include transliteration and english translation.

An app through Iqra.Life is in the works, but in the meantime, users can sign up on the site to save a list of their favorite, go-to dua’as, Khan says.

Khan hopes the website and soon-to-be app will inspire Muslims to build a stronger relationship with Allah and gain “inner clarity.”
